My Favorite Drugstore Makeup
I am addicted to makeup. When I talk about makeup, I don’t mention drugstore items and it’s not because I dislike drugstore items. I have combo skin, so it is hard to find products that work with dry and oily skin.
Drugstore makeup has stepped up their game big time. Some drugstore makeup is better than the high end. So here are my favorite drugstore cosmetics right now.
I have had a hard time finding a good primer from Sephora and the drugstore. The combination skin and large pores make it hard. I have had good results with e. l. f. Primers because they’re six dollars they are worth mentioning. L’Oreal Paris Magic Perfecting Base reminds me a lot of the Bobbi Brown Vitamin Enriched Face Base, but I get some pilling with this product,.
Milani eyeshadow primer is my go to eye primer. I’ve in another post I believe this is a dupe for the Too Faced Shadow Insurance and I think this is better than the Too Faced.
Mascara is tough I am very picky, and if it flakes too much, I get any transfer into my under eye area, I will not re-purchase it. I recommend the L’Oreal voluminous lash primer which is a dupe for Subversion primer. Lash Paradise is better than Better Than Sex Mascara. Maybelline Volume Express Mega Plush is rather good.
Some people will open Maybelline Mascara five or six days before they even plan on using it to let it dry out a little. I feel that the Maybelline has a wet mascara formula and takes too long to dry.
The only drugstore brow pencil I use right now is the Maybelline Studio Brow pencil. I have yet to find anything that beats my Brow Whiz. I am always looking for a good drugstore brow product.
Now as far as actual concealers go the only one I’m recommending right now is the Maybelline Instant Age Rewind. I have used to use the NYX concealer, and I think it’s decent concealer I’ve had issues with it creasing. I feel like the Maybelline Instant Age Rewind is great for highlighting under eye area it also helps conceal dark eye circles. There is minimal creasing with this formula.
Drugstore foundations are good. I love L’Oreal Infallible Pro-Glow foundation. I dislike glow. However, Pro-Glow is one of the few foundations that doesn't make my skin look dry. I have combination skin, so far no issues in my oily zones. Most foundations that work well on dry skin will look terrible on oily skin.
I also am fond of Cover Girl Vitalist Healthy Elixir. I think this one looks natural reminds me of the Nars tinted moisturizer. Warning it’s not full coverage like it says but, it seems natural and feels comfortable it is worth a mention.
I purchase most of my lip products from the drugstore, and I love the Maybelline Color Sensational Vivid Liquids. Warning the dry down takes forever. L’Oreal Infallible Lip Paint the metallics are just spectacular. I love them so much. NYX butter gloss is great too not too sticky. Wet 'N Wild Liquid Catsuit is another excellent liquid lipstick, and their two dollar lipsticks are comfortable and long lasting. Maybelline has the better lip formulas. I would buy all the Maybelline lipsticks if I could.
A great drugstore eyeliner is hard for me to find. L’Oreal is awesome. Try the Infallible liquid eyeliner it is my favorite.
The Maybelline Fit Me powder with a brush to set my makeup. I have not found a loose powder I like yet. I heard the Cody Air Spun is incredible, but I have not seen it in any of my local stores.
Blush is hard for me because I am addicted to my Gwen Stefani Palette but the Milani Rose Blushes are great. The pigmentation is insane use a light hand.
NYX Professional Makeup Matte Bronzer is my favorite for bronzing and contouring from the drugstore. The pan is huge, and it lasts forever.
Wet 'N Wild has the better drugstore highlighters. The Color Icon line is excellent. Color Icon Bronzer, Reserve Your Cabana is a cult favorite highlight despite being a bronzer a lot of women use it. It's very subtle, and the pan is one of the biggest I've seen on a bronzer.
Setting spray I like the Wet 'WIld Photo Focus setting spray. My makeup has lasted through light workouts with this setting spray.
I am still searching for and testing drugstore cosmetics and, some new products coming out for the holidays will become some of my new favorites. What are your favorite drugstore cosmetics? I have compiled my favorite items from Ulta that are $10 or less. Have you tried any of them yet?
