My Favorite Drugstore Makeup
I am addicted to makeup. I know that when I talk about make up a lot, I don’t mention drugstore items and it’s not really because I dislike drugstore items. I have combo skin, so it is hard to find products that work with dry and oily skin.
I feel like the companies making drugstore makeup have stepped up their game big time. Some drugstore makeup is better than the high end. So here are my favorite drugstore cosmetics right now.
I have had a hard time finding a good primer from Sephora and the drugstore. I haven't found a primer that I love. The combination skin and large pores make it hard. I have had good results with e.l.f. primers because they’re six dollars they are worth mentioning. L’Oreal Paris Magic Perfecting Base reminds me a lot of the Bobbi Brown Vitamin Enriched Face Base, but I do get some pilling with this product, unfortunately. I also highly recommend Milani eyeshadow primer. I’ve said this before in another post I believe this is a dupe for the Too Faced Shadow Insurance and I think this is better than the Too Faced.
I have a tough time with mascara I am very picky, and if it flakes too much I get any transfer into my under eye area, I will not re-purchase it. I recommend the L’Oreal voluminous lash primer which is a dupe for Subversion primer. Lash Paradise is better than Better Than Sex Mascara. Maybelline Volume Express Mega Plush is rather good. I feel the formula is very wet, so it takes a lot of experimentation to see how you’re going to like the best. Some people will open Maybelline Mascara five or six days before they even plan on using it to let it dry out a little. I feel that the Maybelline has a very wet mascara formula and takes too long to dry.
The only brow pencil I have on here right now is the Maybelline Studio Brow pencil. I have yet to find anything that beats my Brow Whiz. I am always looking for a good drugstore brow product.
Now as far as actual concealers go the only one I’m recommending right now is the Maybelline Instant Age Rewind. Ib used to use the NYX concealer, and I think it’s decent concealer I’ve had issues with it creasing. I feel like the Maybelline Instant Age Rewind is a great one for highlighting under eye area it also helps conceal dark eye circles. There is minimal creasing with this formula.
Now, as far as foundations go I’m highly recommending the L’Oreal Infallible Pro-glow foundation. I am not a fan of the glow, but the problem is this is probably one of the only foundations out there that don't make my skin look dry. I have combination skin, so it works well for the most part. It a does break down for me a little bit on my cheeks near my nose where I have rosacea. That is typical with me even with Double Wear though, and that is a lot of women Holy Grail. I also am very fond of Cover Girl Vitalist Healthy Exlir. I think this one looks very natural reminds me of the Nars tinted moisturizer. Warning it’s not full coverage like it says but it just looks very natural and feels comfortable its worth a mention.
I purchase most of my lip products from the drugstore, and I positively love the Maybelline Color Sensational Vivid Liquids. Those are great, but they do take a long time to dry down. L’Oreal Infallible Lip Paint the metallics are just spectacular. I love them so much. NYX butter gloss is great too not too sticky. Wet 'N Wild Liquid Catsuit is another excellent liquid lipstick, and their two dollar lipsticks are comfortable and long lasting as well. In my opinion, Maybelline has the better lip formulas. I would buy all of the Maybelline lipsticks if I could.
I’m picky about eyeliner because my wing will break down very quickly if the formula sucks. I do like the L’Oreal infallible superslim liquid eyeliners. Pretty much any L’Oreal liquid eyeliner is good.
I also enjoy the Maybelline Fit Me powder with a brush to set my makeup. I have not found a loose powder that does not make me look cakey. I heard the Cody Air Spun is incredible, but I have not seen it in any of my local stores.
Blush is a hard one for me because I am addicted to my Gwen Stafani Palette right now, but the Milani Rose Blushes are great. Use a light hand because these are very pigmented much like the Urban Decay formula a little goes a long way.
NYX Professional Makeup Matte Bronzer is my favorite for bronzing and contouring from the drugstore. The pan is huge, and it lasts forever.
Wet 'N Wild has the better drugstore highlighters. The Color Icon line is excellent. Color Icon Bronzer Reserve Your Cabana is used as a highlight by a lot of women it is very subtle, and the pan is one of the biggest I've seen on a bronzer.
Setting spray I like the Wet 'WIld Photo Focus setting spray. My makeup has lasted through light workouts with this setting spray.
I am still searching for and testing drugstore cosmetics and hopefully, some of the new products coming out for the holidays will become some of my new favorites. What is your favorite drugstore cosmetics?
