Are You Applying Your Mascara Wrong? Giveaway Time!
Mascara is probably one of the easiest cosmetics out there to work with if you don't like it. When you buy makeup, especially expensive makeup, you're stuck with it. Mascara is one of those things that is hard to return.
Sometimes the issues with the mascara are smudges or running, which sometimes you can work around. Nyx makes Proof It Waterproof Mascara Top Coat, which means it makes it waterproof, so if your mascara is running or smudging, you can try that. A lot of women love how their mascara looks, but it runs or smudges.
I hear about clumps often. The first way to work around that issue is using a clean piece of paper to wipe off the excess product. If there are any clumps on the side of the wand, you want to wipe them off right away. Another easy fix for any mascara is to use a metal eyelash comb to get the clumps out. A plastic eyelash comb is bulky and can make it worse. While the mascara is still wet, you should comb the clumps out. You can comb it when it's dry as well, but then it may flake, and it could end up in your eye.
Try adding one or two drops of sterile eye drops or saline solution for contact lenses to mascara that is drying out or that has a clumpy formula. Since mascara is good for up to six months, you can revive mascara that is drying out this way.
Another common issue with mascara it looks beautiful on the upper lashes but on the bottom lashes it gives you raccoon eyes. When this happens, use a separate mascara for your bottom lashes. Many people use the Cover Girl Clump Crusher. Personally, that didn't work for me, but I use Clinique Bottom Lash Mascara.
Mascara Primer makes for better application and wear. It also helps you see the tips of your lashes. It volumizes and lengthens as well as conditions your lashes. Loreal Voluminous is a dupe for Urban Decays Subversion Primer; it is my favorite, and it's budget-friendly.
Finally, many mascara users do not curl their lashes, but you should do so before applying mascara or primers. Curling after mascara is bad for your lashes and can cause spider lashes. Worst of all, your lashes could stick to the curler and be pulled out. Curling your eyelashes not only helps them look fuller but makes your eyes bigger. You need to apply the eyelash curler to the base, the middle, and at the tips. Make sure you wait three to five seconds before moving on to the next section.
I hope this helps you. If you apply mascara correctly, many typical mascara issues never arise.
