Kat Von D Studded Kiss Creme Lipstick Review
It was amazing being selected for Influenster Voxbox of the new Kat Von D Studded Creme Lipstick.
I am excited about this I own several Studded Kiss Lipsticks and never reach for them. They are all mattes, and I think they are dry and uncomfortable.
Kat Von D needed a cream formula. I love the shades. The comfort is an issue. The Sephora brand has similar shades for less. The formulas are identical.
The truth is, I cannot judge a product line with one shade. I hoped I would get a light color, a neutral and a dark lipstick. I am familiar with Studded Kiss line, and the formula. Some shades are fine and some just plain bad.
Noble and Agatha are beautiful shades. I can’t use them they’re patchy. Sometimes certain shades are problematic. If you use chapstick with that does not help much.
Wet 'N Wild Liquid Catsuit, for example, has fantastic liquid lipsticks. The lighter colors are patchy and drying.
I only got one shade. I hoped that Influenster would give us a few lipsticks. The Amuse-bouche Bite Boxes had three tubes of lipstick since the formulas are similar I had thought there would be a three shades. I am not ungrateful or unappreciative. I was hoping the creme formula of the lighter shades was better than the standard Studded Kiss Formula. The Samplers at Sephora are not sanitary to wear on your lips. So I cannot report back to you on the quality of the lighter and darker shades.
I received Cathedral which is a darker neutral brownish red shade. Very 1990's. Lovecraft or Lolita are the shades I own in the original formula. The shades are stunning but the formula is not comfortable.
I wanted to compare the shades. I would have performed a wear test Orignal on one side Creme on the other. I did not have the original formula in Cathedral.
The new creme formula smells like the original formula a little fruity and sweet.
Like Studded Kiss the application was not smooth. The application was patchy. I had to go over my lips a few times. I am wondering if I got a dud. The lipstick did not feel creamy.
I am a huge fan of the Creme formula from Urban Decay the shade Ex-Girlfriend that is the most comfortable lipstick. It's creamy and smooth. Better than Bites Amuse-bouche.
I tried the transfer test. It left grit on my soda can.
I am prone to parched lips. They never chap, but they felt like they need moisture. I use a lip scrub a few times a week, and I use a Laneige sleeping mask for my lips. I also use Brazilian Kiss lip butter during the day.
Despite this, I tolerate mattes and most liquid lipsticks. I am unsure of why but Kat Von D lip products just drying for me.
An hour after application it has dried down. It is still patchy. It does not feel comfortable at all.
Tomorrow I will wear it again and apply lip butter about half an hour before application to see if that helps at all but I am not hopeful.
I received this lipstick for free for testing from Influenster.

*** Day two. I wore it all day the lipstick needed to removed and reapplied. The formula dries down and gets flaky. The texture is still gritty. It is not kiss proof and can smear. I am convinced that there is something wrong with the actual lipstick. I will attempt the third day. My plan is to scrape off the top and see if that makes any difference.***
It is now March I took the lipstick with me in my travel bag I bring in my bag when Im out and about. It had a lot of makeup in it. A new Stila liquid eyeliner, a full sized Estee Lauder mascara, a new Sephora lipstick, and more. Like most women I carry my favorite with me and other things so I can touch up my makeup. The bag went missing after a trip to Disneyland. No one ever turned it in.
I lost all of my favorite makeup and this lipstick. I ended up hating the formula but loving the shade. Maybelline has a shade that is similar I will test that soon. If you like the shade by all means give it a try but beware if you have chapped lips.
The Kat Von D Studded Kiss Creme Cathedral ingredients are not found online. I am still searching. Here are the ingredients for another shade.
