Fenty Match Stix Review Plus Preventing Creasing

I was curious about Fenty Makeup. Everyone has been raving about the Match Stix. The problem is, I love my Make Up For Ever Ulta HD concealer. I already found a Holy Grail product.

When I ran out of my Ulta HD Concealer, I gave Fenty Match Stix a try. I figured if the Match Stix does not work I can exchange Match Stix for my usual concealer. I like natural lighter coverage to highlight the under eye area. This one dries to a powder finish, and I feared the formula may make my under eye area look dry or highlight my fine lines.

We all have lines under our eyes. Wrinkles a part of life. We get them from laughing, smiling, squinting, and making faces.

I love my Ultra HD Concealer because Make Up Forever does not a crease. I doubted that Match Stix could rival my holy grail concealer.

The packaging is nice. Match Styx is a stick concealer, not a liquid, so less will go to the waste. My Ultra HD comes in a squeeze tube which I hate, to be honest.

The application was not the easiest. Blending is difficult. Match Styx is cream to powder formula, but dried rather fast for cream hence the hard time blending. Match Styx applies best with a damp beauty blender.

Fenty Match Stix looked natural. What surprised me was I liked the Match Stix so much. Match Stix did not crease at all! I wore the concealer for about 14 hours, and it did not budge. The formula did not break down. So far I am impressed. I will not be returning my Match Styx concealer. I recommend trying the Match Stix if you are looking for a new concealer.

If you have issues with creasing follow these tips. Baking can make creasing worse. So if your baking and your concealer is still creasing stop. You're just adding more product to accumulate in your fine lines. Powder can also dry out the delicate under eye area. I get it works for some beauty gurus but they use very expensive skin care products. Odds are that is keeping their makeup from creasing. Those products are preventing the talc powders from drying out their under eye area.

I get baking works for many people. For many people baking with powder makes creasing worse.

A hydraulic acid moisturizer is prefect to use before priming your under eye area. Wayne Goss says to put on moisturizer and then apply even more moisturizer. I put on a moisturizer, skin plumper, and eye cream. Moisture will plump out fine lines.

An under-eye mask may help a lot with a few issues. Wear the eye mask treatment when applying eyeshadow for a well rested and hydrated under eye. The strips will deal with the eyeshadow fallout. And the masks give your under-eye area smoother skin.

After removing the strips apply eyeshadow primer under your eyes. This will help prevent creasing. I will also use a pore filling primer near the outer eye area. I apply it where I crease to help fill in the lines.

A drop or two of primer mixed in with your concealer may prevent creasing.

A few drops of primer oil on your beauty blender may help blend your concealer. For some this makes a huge difference. I have noticed when I do this my bottom lash mascara smudges more so remember one drop of oil can go a long way.

I carry a Beauty Blender Blotterazzi in my bag to blend my concealer if it creases. The sponge does nothing for shine, but works well for touch ups and removing smudged mascara from my under eyes. A micro mini Beauty Blender works well too.

I know this may seem like a lot of work. Most steps do not take long. Concealer can crease on anyone. These tips can make a huge difference in how your concealer preforms.

A Kid Destroyed a Thousand Dollars Worth of Makeup At Sephora?

So I heard about the incident in Georgia at Sephora. A Makeup Artist took a snapshot of a destroyed Make Up Forever display. Someone ruined dozens of pans of eyeshadow. The headlines claimed $1300 in damages. Through other media sources are claiming different values. The point is the Makeup Artist blamed a child.

A Facebook picture goes viral. Then internet parenting experts come out of the woodwork. The caption stated she witnessed nothing. She keeps editing her Facebook post to make her story more credible. Facebook edit history is public. People don't read the captions. Why are people so apt to comment on a fishy story they clearly did not read?

What is strange is they only destroyed one massive display of eyeshadow? Two palettes and plenty of colorful liners are untouched lower within a child's reach. I shop at Sephora with small children, and most little kids cannot reach the testers that high up.

A small child's finger seems too small to do so much damage the purple shadow where the pan is showing. I believe the damage is from something sharp like an acrylic nail.

Some comments are vulgar. Many made by those saying they do not have kids. Someone who has no experience raising children should not be giving parenting advice. Kids have minds of their owns. Sometimes they do bad things.

I am not trying to be insensitive here but since when has everyone become parenting experts. One person said leash the child (check Twitter) but other parents love to slam the mother. I guess your child never once embarrassed you in public then? Perhaps broke something expensive.

I will call this for what it is posting that picture got the Makeup Artist a lot of attention. We can also say perhaps how petty it is to take a picture and give a parenting lecture. Especially when you arrived after the incident took place.

We do not know a child did that. Commenting parents should not be bringing kids to inappropriate places (Sephora) is judgemental. Someone needs to call BS on this.

Since when is the mall an inappropriate place to bring kids? Last time I checked Sephora is not a bar or a strip club. Malls are full of kids. If kids should not shop with their mothers Sephora would not do well. Many of their customers are mothers.

No one has mentioned the points I will make.

I worked retail, and the fact Sephora never made a statement is strange. Even after, and Allure and Teen Vogue picked this up. One must ask does Sephora has security cameras. Another point someone should make. Stores destroy testers to replace them with new ones. Many stores are preparing for Black Friday.

The fact is Ms Nelson took a picture and posted on Social Media. Which is her side of the story? Who says a kid destroyed the makeup? One person who admits she witnessed nothing.

I am so tired of people bashing parents for what their kids do. I’ve been a parent for 21 years. Sometimes despite your best efforts your kids will do something you find appalling.

If a kid did this we should ask where was the mom or dad and why the heck didn't the store employees stop them? An unattended child could not do this in a few seconds.

The gist is if a child went on a mini rampage that took at least a few minutes. In a store that had a parent, a store manager, and sales associates? There had to be at least 3 adults and no one stopped it or spoke up to the media.

Mother's never rush with a child? Maybe the kid had to go potty. She claims there were small glittery footprints? I'm calling her out on that too. I doubt it made a big enough mess on the floor to step on it and leave a footprint. Not even that much powder fell on to the display below so I am calling BS on the whole thing. She changed her version of the story on Facebook several times.

So what do you think? I feel someone made assumptions and started a sh*tstorm on Twitter.

Update 6/27:

The Facebook For Developers Plugin no longer allows it to embed the original post. She updated her post to say you must call the press agency who now manages the image to share the image. Since when is that? Let me clarify that she means she wants control over who and how her post is now shared. My guess is she wants to be paid to use her image which she has that right. I find it fishy she waited this long though.

I am sickened by those who still leave nasty remarks about parenting and how we need to discipline or hit kids. Ms. Nelson saw nothing. Her post is sheer speculation. People cannot read captions anymore.

5 Self Care Must Haves For Busy Moms

Self-care is popular right now. Most people do not understand self care. Self-care is something you do to take care of yourself. Self-care encompasses actions beyond the basic ones we need to meet for survival. Self-care can help us stay healthy and sane.

Moms with younger kids sometimes can go a day or two without having a real shower. Who has the time?

After I gave birth to my youngest, my face aged so much in the first year I required two years of daily skin care to get rid of some wrinkles I got. I bathed and did nothing else for myself for over a year. I had no help the first year, and that year was hard.

Here is an essential list of some self-care items we can use without taking time away from something else. As the queen of multitasking I love any product helps me get more done. Since I have little time for myself anything that helps me take care of myself without having to give up sleep is a winner.

Here are the five self care products I cannot live without.

1. In shower moisturizer is something you use at the end of your shower. Some you rinse off and some you don’t. The in shower moisturizer is working for me and helping with my eczema. I prefer the Curel in shower lotion. Jergens has a good one too.

2. Because I’m a busy mom and take quick showers, I try to take one or two longer showers during the week. I use conditioning hair mask and leave the mask on for 3 to 5 minutes. I never condition my hair if you are anything like me this helps give your hair some TLC it didn’t get during the week. I like the new Garnier one minute Masks and I love the Aussie Three Minute Miracle.

3.  Try an in shower facial mask to boost moisture. The Aveeno one I like because it’s cheap. The Aveeno mask exfoliates. I apply my face mask and my conditioner at the same time. Then I shave my legs. I have little free time I always multi-task.

4. You need a good comprehensive skin care product. Find a serum or moisturizer that refines pores, fine lines, or whatever your skin needs. You don’t have to put five or six different skin creams on at night just get one that meets all your needs. They are out there and sold in the drug store.

5. The last item is a sleeping mask. I purchased one that exfoliates, helps clear up my skin, and moisturizers. A sleeping mask could be a literal lifesaver if you don’t exfoliate and moisturize. So far I like this Pumpkin Enzyme mask by Too Cool For School and Sephora's Rose sleeping mask.

Since self-care means to care for yourself and do things to help revitalize yourself. If you’re busy and cannot take the time to take care of your skin and hair, it will catch up with you. Dry skin is not comfortable on your face or your legs, during winter. Many multi-tasking items you can use exist. Stores like Ulta or Wal-Mart carry inexpensive skincare and hair care products that will help your skin and hair stay healthy.

I think people forget how wonderful a shower is when you are a busy parent. The most significant part of my self-care routine is bathing and exercise. To do these daily, I neglect other things and sometimes that makes my life harder because I fall behind. However, I cannot take care of everyone else if I am not taking care of myself.

Keeping my home clean and organized is also part of my self-care routine. I need a clean and organized space to function, but I also need to take care of my body, so some days cleaning wins over a workout at the gym. Do what you need to be happy. If taking a bath or reading a book makes you happy go for it.

How do you practice self care?

How To Get Ready In Five Minutes

If you are anything like me, I don't like leaving the house without some makeup unless I'm going out to exercise.

I'm busy, and I do not take time for myself. I don't like going out without makeup because I'm tired and it shows most of the time. Most of us even if we do not wear makeup want to appear put together and rested.

I learned fast what to do to look good and how to do it fast. If you want to wear makeup and get ready in a flash less is more. A more natural appearance and using fewer products will save you the most time. Here is a quick step-by-step tutorial to get a fresh and fab face in five minutes in the morning when you're in a hurry.

IMG_4231 2.JPG
  • Step 1- Comb or brush your hair. A messy bun or ponytail is a quick and easy way to style your long hair. A pixie cut is low maintenance and looks chic if you're looking to save time drying and styling your hair. Styling or brushing your hair makes a difference in your appearance. Especially when you want a low maintenance or quick routine.

  • Step 2- Wash your face or use micellar water or micellar wipes. Even if you're not wearing makeup, you still want to start with a clean canvas every morning. I find the Simple micellar wipes are gentle and fast to use.

  • Step3-  Moisturize your skin. A dewy moisturizer gives you an instant glow. GlamGlow makes a Volcasmic Matte Glowy moisturizer which seems a little more natural. The GlamGlow GlowStarter moisturizer is too much. There are now many illuminating moisturizers sold in the drugstore. This is the one essential I would not skip using because the right one can make you look and feel like a million bucks.

  • Step-4 Apply a de-puffing or dark circle eye cream. A good eye cream or treatment will make you appear well rested. Amazon sells eye treatment patches for a reasonable price. If you keep them in the fridge that further reduces eye puffiness.

  • Step 5-  Curl your lashes. This will make your eyes pop. You will look more awake. Even if you do not use mascara curl your lashes. Apply mascara. Don't bother with primer and use a mascara you know will look natural.

  • Step 6- Comb your eyebrows and use clear brow gel if desired. To tame your brows and define them.

  • Step 7- Apply tinted lip balm or gloss. For a pop of color and hydration.

These steps are optional. The final steps are using cosmetics. The makeup is minimal and quick. Application does not take much effort when you're tired. Without mascara and concealer in the morning I seem tired and grumpy. Adding those to my routine makes me look awake and my eyes pop. Mascara and concealer help me be more confidant in my appearance.

  • Step 8-  Use under eye concealer to hide dark circles. A brightening concealer will cover the dark circles best.

  • Step 9- Add a dab of a blush or cheek stain on the apples of your cheeks to give your face a healthy flush.

If you hate makeup, don't bother with wearing any cosmetics. Makeup is unnecessary and helps stress your natural beauty. Some women feel more confident when they wear makeup, and there is nothing wrong with that. I hope these tips help you.
