Morning Meltdown 100 Phase 2 Review

I really want to love the Morning Meltdown 100. I really do. If you read my review of Phase 1, you know that I was not happy with the modifiers. You should really read my review of Phase 1 because I also cover some other issues that you must know. Especially if you are here trying to find out if Morning Meltdown 100 is worth it. I finished Phase 2 last week and here are my final thoughts.

The Good

The strength workouts are great. Phase 2’s last leg workout left me sore, which is a rarity. Jericho covers the major muscle groups. I love that she breaks it up into upper and lower body workouts she spaces apart. This is great. You will get a little shoulder work in the lower body workouts, and your muscles need the rest. What makes the Morning Meltdown 100 worthwhile is the strength training workouts. They are time efficient and effective.

Jericho is a friendly and likeable instructor. She does not talk too much. Jericho gives good cues and instructions, she will not start a move without showing it first. I find the strength workouts to be challenging, I get a good sweat and calorie burn. These are the best workouts in the Morning Meltdown.

The Bad

I know active rest days are great. Yoga is a great way to work out on an active rest day and stretch those tired muscles. The Re-Vibe workouts are a total drag. I loathe them. The workout and instruction itself is fine. But for a rest day, 20 minutes of yoga can be torture. Especially when you spend what seems to be somewhere between a fourth to half of the time in downward dog. Find a new move already. Let’s do some chair poses or moves to improve our balance. Or make the Yoga portion 10-15 minutes. Give me a break, we are working out every single day.

The Core Inferno can also be redundant and could also be a shorter workout. I also feel like the mods are not great. There is a basic mod and an intermediate one. I wish there was one for those who found the intermediate mod to be too easy but the advanced move too hard to do safely. I am in that zone and I don't feel like this workout is effective for me. When an ab workout works, I can feel it the next day. I do not feel anything. See the ugly section for more thoughts on Core Inferno.

where are the modifiers?

where are the modifiers?

The Ugly

Because this is an intermediate to advanced workout it’s likely you will not need to watch the modifiers. However, if you need to see them your screwed. Seriously. I would keep a detailed list of where and when to help ya'll but ain't no one got time for that.

The modifiers are crap. Total crap. The “easy” modifier is five to twenty seconds into the move before we see her. I can do the strength moves fine. Cardio and Fight Club not so much. I live upstairs and have hip, shoulder, and knee issues. There are days I just can’t. I do not want to aggravate my back/hip issues. Or my neighbors and here I am standing here like an idiot waiting to see the modifier. At this point sometimes I do my own thing until I see her. I stream via Roku and do not have the modifier option that some Beachbody On Demand subscribers have. I have not seen that option on my app either.

Core Inferno, Re-Vibe, and Fight Club Workouts are repeat offenders in this. At this point I think hey they don’t give a crap about us fat folks who cannot do the hard moves. If you think you will need to do the modifications, you may have to skip ahead a few seconds to see it. Then rewind and start with everyone else. Or be like me. Do your own thing. After awhile you will catch on and guess what moves to preform.

To be honest, I do not get why Beachbody thinks fat people can only perform the easy exercises. The easy modifiers moves are so basic if you workout regularly it will not increase your heart rate. What is the point if it doesn’t increase your heart rate? Hey Beachbody you can be fat and fit.

When I lift weights, I can lift what Jericho does or heavier! Beachbody’s only workout aimed at plus sizes is Youv2. Which is fun but so basic I don’t break a sweat. I don’t get it! They hire an adorable plus sized fitness model as the easy modifier who does moves that do nothing. If you are a beginner, they help but this workout is not for beginners. I want to see her in cute fitness apparel working out with everyone else not doing basic moves. I know this girl can.

The intermediate modifier performs more advanced moves. Sometimes they do nothing for me. They are still basic moves that do little to increase my heart rate. What puzzles me is the woman with long black hair. Often she exercises in the back row center or to the left. She is not a modifier. She does the modified moves half the time. I wish they would move her up with the modifiers. Then have her perform a move that is easier than the advanced move but harder than the intermediate one. If the intermediate moves are easy, but the advanced is too hard you know what I mean. I spend half the workout feeling like I am not getting a good enough workout.

The intermediate modifier also wears drab costumes. One of the last workouts she had a cute workout outfit, and I thought damn it's about time! It’s almost 2020 and the average American woman wears a size 16-18 get with the times Beachbody! It’s time to represent the average woman better. We may be bigger but it does not mean we wear boring clothes or cannot workout just as hard as the skinny girls!

Conclusion

For real if the strength portion did not give me a good sweat and calorie burn I would say Im done. I would cancel Beachbody but there is a new barre workout due to be released soon. Experience tells me it won't show anyone who looks or moves like me but I want barre results too! So I won’t cancel Beachbody yet.

Beachbody doesn't have a workout for the average woman. Newsflash the average woman is a plus size woman. So until the fitness industry catches up with the times I will keep posting these reviews. Maybe Beachbody will see this blog. And finally, make a change.

Bottom line if you like to lift weights the strength workouts are good. The cardio not so much. If you need the to follow the modifiers, you will find yourself left out often.
