10 Rounds By Joel Freeman On Beachbody On Demand Review

Joel Freeman is one of Beachbodys best trainers. I loved LIIFT 4 because it was a comprehensive all in one program that included cardio and strength training. LIIFT 4 was no nonsense and didn’t waste any of your time. You’re done in under an hour and the results were effective.

Exercising with Joel is always fun. His instruction is always clear and concise, and he has a wonderful personality. Joel doesn't talk too much, any makes the occasional good joke. I was excited when I saw Joel was back on Beachbody with a new program called 10 Rounds. Boxing is a very effective cardio workout. With the bonus, 10 Rounds will strengthen and tone your muscles. You will see an improvement in your muscle tone all over.

The program is 6 weeks and includes one lower and one upper body workout each week. There are five workouts a week, which is helpful if you have a hard time squeezing in a workout. Some Beachbody programs have a daily workout, which I am not a fan of.

So lets go over the pro’s and con’s of 10 Rounds!

The Good

  • You only workout five days a week.

  • The workouts are 40 minutes or fewer.

  • You only need a resistance loop, weights, and a hand or sweat towel.

  • Joel’s directions are great and he is funny!

  • Includes a resistance training.

  • Calorie scorching.

The Bad

  • Joel does abs at the end of each workout. If you dislike ab work as much as I do this part of the workout was a real bummer.

  • Requires coordination. There are videos to help prep you, but during week two the choreography gets a little harder. This means you may not get it and find yourself behind. You could watch the video before working out! But who has the time for that?

  • There is no modifier for most moves.

  • Not for beginners.

  • This is not a true intermediate program. It requires coordination and some serious muscle memory once you hit week 2.

Final Thoughts

I loved 10 Rounds, especially week one. The first week’s workouts time flew by. I was feeling muscles I never knew I had. The first week I looked forward to working out. Despite being sweaty, I was in a great mood and felt wonderful after a workout.

It was difficult to keep up in week two and beyond. There wasn’t anything wrong with the program I bit off more than I could chew. If you are not feeling confident in your ability to follow the choreography, 10 Rounds will be harder. I’m not very coordinated, and I struggled to keep up once they were doing five or six different punches. After week two I would struggle and get behind, and I wasn’t getting as an effective of a workout.

If you struggle, it may help to pause the program and practice the moves after Joel shows them. However, this can take a longer and Joel adds on more moves towards the end of the round. It may be very challenging to keep up.

I do plan on doing this program again but my plan is to repeat week one at least twice to help me get down some more basic moves maybe I’ll feel more comfortable and get through round week to without issues this way.

Do I recommend 10 Rounds? I do. Just because I struggled with 10 Rounds, it does not mean you will. I firmly believe this is a program to repeat for even better results, so the second round should be much easier. I would give 10 Rounds a chance and try it.
