My goal when starting Always Eat After 7 PM: The Revolutionary Rule-Breaking Diet That Lets You Enjoy Huge Dinners, Desserts, and Indulgent Snacks—While Burning Fat Overnight by Joel Marion was to boost my metabolism and sleep better. I have thought for years now if I could sleep well and get my metabolism back to where it should be, I could lose weight much easier. I also realized as I read Always Eat After 7 PM that I could finally eat a well-balanced diet that meant no more excluding specific food groups.

Since adding carbs and fruits, I have had more energy. I have been sleeping better. Over the past week, I have been able to increase my activity level. I can also eat sweet potatoes again. My goal has been to work my way back up to twenty thousand steps per day, and so far eating carbs and fruit is helping me reach this goal. Yesterday I walked over twenty thousand steps.

I love the recipes from the book so far, the BBQ Chicken En Papillote, and the No Bake Salted caramel bars. The recipes are easy to follow and taste amazing and help me plan a week’s worth of healthy dinners. The food lists combined with the recipes take the guess workout of dieting for me. For once it is clear what I can eat, which makes dieting much simpler.

Because of my husband’s work schedule, I never really ate until at least 6 PM or later so we could have family dinners. I hated being told eating at night was part of why I could not lose weight. We’ve been traditionally taught to avoid carbs, have an early dinner, and never eat before bed. But the fact is, the latest scientific research shows us this earlier model is not the most ideal.

What I like best about Always Eat After 7 PM is the balanced diet combined with Intermittent Fasting.  The most challenging times to curb hunger are just before bed and in the morning. By following the Always Eat After 7PM program, you have the most willpower to stay on the diet because you are eating during the hours when you are most hungry. This also puts you into both intermittent fasting increasing testosterone and your metabolism, while putting you into ketosis.

Skipping breakfast is easy for me because I have been Intermittent Fasting for over a year now. Intermittent Fasting and Always Eat After 7 PM work together beautifully.

As Joel says “Going without breakfast is part of intermittent fasting (IF), also called time-restricted feeding (TRF). IF is a pattern of food consumption that cycles between fasting and eating in specific time periods. There are various ways to do it; one of the most common is the 16/8 protocol, which involves 16 hours of fasting—typically done overnight—with an 8-hour window in which to eat each day.”

So fat the workout leggings I wear every day feel looser in the waist. There is more room in the legs. I expect a few months from now they won’t even fit. Check back with me next week as I share how the first month went.
