Morning Meltdown 100 Phase 3 Review

Phase Three is done, and it’s time to check in. Honestly, I am surprised I made it through phase three. Towards the end, I began to grow tired of dealing with the same issues time and time again. As I write this, I wonder, why didn't Beachbody use a Beta Tester for this program?

I wonder how much longer I can do this workout. Personally, I have a bad track record with Beachbody. I can finish most of their 90-day programs like LIIFT4 or T25 with no problems. Mostly these programs are strength training based with a cardio component like Morning Meltdown 100. However, there is one huge difference; there are 3-5 participants and the modifiers are ALWAYS on camera.

Take Turbo Jam for example- an older workout with several participants in the videos. At least two modifiers with different variations were always on-screen. With Beachbody’s newer workouts, there are several participants and the modifiers are always to the far left or right. The newer workouts do not show them all the time. That is my main issue with Morning Meltdown. I cannot see the freaking modifier! And to those of you who may say something the BOD modifier, feature is not available to me or for Morning Meltdown 100.

I follow the class during strength training workouts, but because I live upstairs, and my neighbors are always home, it limits what I can do. That, and burpees are stupid. Yeah, I said that. I have a bad back and hip, so I skip any moves that can cause injuries. This workout relies upon burpees and variations of the burpee. When I look to the modifiers, they do not show them, or they are showing the modifier that does move that won’t raise my heart rate. The intermediate modifier does a burpee, but without the jump. Sorry, but no, that will not work for me, so I have to come up with my own moves, defeating the purpose of using an at home exercise program.

Gallery shows you cannot see the modifers, dangerous moves that can cause injury, and crappy modifications.

Morning Meltdown is not a bad program, it just neglects to accommodate others with proper modifications. The basic modifier does moves for true beginners. These are not modifications, they are basic beginner moves that do not work for someone who picked an intermediate to advanced workout. I expect true modified intermediate moves.

While the intermediate modifier is an improvement, her moves are all over the place. Some too easy, and others are irresponsible for a modifier. The modifier is supposed to keep things low impact, and doing variations of the burpee where both of her feet are not on the floor 100% of the time is not low impact.

I have no intentions of quitting, and I would like to finish this program. The lack of inclusion for those who need low impact movies is just so damn off-putting. Either the move is not low impact, appropriate, or not hard enough.

My biggest concern is that they do not show the modifier enough. Sometimes, you wait until they have preformed many reps, or you just see the top of one the modifiers heads during floor work. It’s bull. I have shown screen shots before, and if I stopped to take pictures every time this happened, I would never finish the workout. I stream via Roku and do not have the modifier option that some Beachbody On Demand subscribers have. I have not seen that option on my app either.

Overall, the strength training workouts are solid enough. The instruction is good. I question why we do not work certain muscle groups, or why most moves are variations. Jericho McMatthews is a good instructor overall. I trust she knows what she is doing, so I keep doing the strength workouts.

It is the cardio workouts that concern me. I am not getting a good workout because I cannot see what I should be doing. When I can see the moves, they are so basic I will be lucky if my heart rate gets out of the fat burning zone.

I have started phase four and cannot wait to complete this program and for it to be over. To speed things up, I am doing the revive workout after the last strength workout for the week. I want this over with already.

If Jericho had a strength training only program coming out, I would be first in line to sign up. However, it is the cardio aspect and the revive workouts that make Morning Meltdown a letdown. Hopefully phase four will be better, but I am not holding my breath. I will post and update within 20 days, so stay tuned.
