Oogie Boogie replaced Mickeys Halloween Party at Disneyland and is Villain themed. Oogie Boogie Bash is family friendly. There is plenty of entertainment and many trick or treat trails. When

Party dates will be: Sept. 6,10 (D23 Members only), 13, 15, 18, 20, 22, 25, 27, and 29. Oct. 2, 4, 6, 9, 11, 13, 16, 18, 20, 23, 25, 27, 29 and Halloween. Prices vary depending on the date, from $114-$179 per ticket. You will have to pay for parking.

Arrival

The mix in starts at 3 pm. Getting in can take some time. Remember traffic can be bad. Then you have to get through security. I recommend getting to Downtown Disney by 2:30 at the latest. The admission line is long by then. Many line up at two. If you do not want to wait get a snack or eat a quick meal. I would arrive at the admission gate after three. You will get in much faster.

Immersive Trails

Will be updated for 2022 when the characters are updated. Two new unnamed villains have been announced as joining the trails, check back often, I will update when they are named. Immersive Trails feature Disney Villains and are the best part of Oogie Boogie Bash. The Villains and trails are:

Oogie Boogie who is at the Disney Animation Courtyard.

Dr. Facilier is outside of Anengers Campus.

Mad Hatter is at the Hyperion Theater Courtyard

Maleficent is at the Grizzly Peak Airfield

Evil Queen is at the Grizzly Peak Mountain Road

Agatha Avengers Campus

Cruella Hollywood Land

Sid Pixar Pier

Entertainment

The Frightfully Fun Parade is on the parade route throughout the park. I suggest watching from the walkway between Wine Country Trattoria and Carthay Circle. This is just my preference. I feel it is easier to find a spot here. There is only one parade. The parade will be fun for everyone. Adults and kids. They’ve got villains you rarely see. The Haunted Mansion floats and entertainers are amazing. Jack and Sally will wave at you. The Frightfully Fun parade is something you should not miss. The pre-parade featuring the Headless Horseman begins before the parade and is worth waiting for. The parade begins at 7:50 and 10:05 PM.

Mickeys Trick & Treat is an interactive show in the Disney Theater. I feel much of the entertainment is perfect for the younger children who may fear villains. There is music and dancing. I would not skip the show. If you wait until later in the night, the show is less crowded. We walked up before the last showing and sat in the front row. This saved us so much time waiting in line. So go to a later show. Show times are 6:15,6:55,7:35, 9:00, 9:50 PM.

Villainous! (Not happening in 2022?) is a World of Color show exclusive to Oogie Boogie Bash. Disney Parks Blog describes the show as: “In Villainous!, Shelley has a decision to make about her Halloween costume for this year, and wonders if she could be as strong and unique as some of her favorite Disney villains. This twisted tale carries Shelley on an unforgettable journey through devious encounters with The Queen, Ursula, Dr. Facilier, Hades, Jafar, Maleficent and more.” Villainous takes place in Paradise Bay at 9:00 and 10:45 pm. I skipped Villainous. Many of the experiences were interactive, and I felt I would watch this on Youtube later. If you worry about having enough time to do everything put off Villainous until 10:45 pm. Usually the second showing has fewer people. It is easier to find a viewing location. If you worry Villainous will scare smaller children, I have a tip. Have your kids watch a few minutes of the show on Youtube to see if your child gets scared. I also recommend doing this with rides that may scare children.

Villain’s Grove is at Redwood Creek Trail. Lights, music, and a smog machines create a realm belonging to Disney Villains. This is a walk through experience. There were no characters in Villains Grove. Visit Villains Grove later in the night the line will be shorter.

Character Meet and Greets

For 2021 there will be character sightings in 2021 instead of meet and greets. Which are perfect for selfies.

Classic Animated Friends (Baloo) – Pacific Wharf

Dynamic Duos (Hades and Meg, Evil Stepsisters, Pain and Panic) near Carthay Circle

Incredibles – near the Incredicoaster

Marvel Characters (Loki, Captain Marvel, Thor, etc.) in Avengers Campus

Mickey and Minnie – Paradise Park

Pixar Pals (Woody & Jessie) – Pixar Pier

Sinister Characters (King Richard from Robin Hood) – near Grizzly River Run

Swashbuckling Sidekicks – Grizzly Falls

Magic Key Holders

There is a special treat trail at Silly Symphony Swings with a Hocus Pocus photo opportunity. You must present your annual pass. I will update with the 2022 photo opp when it is announced.

Rides

All attractions were open but many in Pixar Pier closed early for World of Color, this not an issue for 2022 parties as of now. If you want to ride Jessie’s Critter Carousel or Inside Out Emotional Whirlwind, do it before dark. The lines for most rides were reasonable. Some had no wait.

Dining

Many of the Counter Service locations close early. If you want to eat counter service do so early. There is a Special Dining Package at Wine Country Trattoria. Dinner comprises a 3 course prix-fixe menu. You then watch the Frightfully Fun Parade from a preferred viewing location. I recommend eating before the party starts. That is at 6pm. There is plenty to do and the party only lasts five hours. I could not get a reservation for both dates I bought tickets for. I have heard if you walk up you may luck out.
