5 Homeschooling Resources I Cannot Live Without

I cannot wait to share this post with you! As a homeschooling mom, I love to share what makes homeschooling work for my family. Therefore, I am sharing some of my affiliate links with you. If you click on a link from this post, I could earn commission from it.

When I started homeschooling, my middle child, it was to prepare him for Kindergarten. We could not afford nor needed daycare/nursery school. Back in that day, things were different. I spent plenty of time online finding worksheets and going to the library. Today there are more resources for homeschooling families that make homeschooling easier, and I would love to share them with you.

Thanks to these resources, I do not have to spend hours scouring the web. I can get chores done while my daughter does her work. These have made homeschooling so much easier for me, and I cannot wait to share them with you.

  1. Teachers Pay Teachers also known as TpT allows me to find free and paid curriculum or worksheets for my child. The materials made and sold by teachers digitally are a real lifesaver. I can always find free and paid resources. I love the rating system that the information is current in each unit. Unlike some workbooks I have bought only to find the lessons are outdated. TpT materials means ideas from many teachers are taught at home. What I really love is I can pick and create a customized curriculum for my child. I can also purchase units when we need help with something as well. This site is my go to.

  2. ABC Mouse made the early days of homeschooling so much easier. I feel like online programs like this can offer and interactive experience kids will enjoy helping them learn and it can fill any gaps you may have in your curriculum. The learning path makes sure your child cannot just do whatever they want, and I love the reward system. As your child completes a lesson, they earn coins which your child can spend to clothe their avatar or buy virtual pets which my daughter A loved! It helped motivate her. This link will give you a 30-day free trial of ABC Mouse.

  3. Reading Eggs, I wish I was a part of their affiliate program, so I could give you a free trial, but they usually have one going! When we were struggling with reading and phonics lessons, adding Reading Eggs into my curriculum changed everything. This was a real departure from reading with mom and doing worksheets. There were awesome songs, games, activities, and even books. Math Seeds, which is part of the subscription, is amazing. A started doing so much better at math and reading after we added Reading Eggs into the mix. This is one resource I couldn’t do without. We now do a hybrid curriculum where she spends the morning working with me, then the afternoon on Reading Eggs. Reading Eggs is for kids ages 2-10 and has three levels: Reading Eggs Jr, Reading Eggs, and Fast Phonics for older kids. Because Reading Eggs is an Australian program, there is an accent. My daughter loves the Australian accent, but some may want to know about the accent beforehand.

  4. Adventure Academy is from the creators of ABC Mouse and is the program you should choose after ABC Mouse. Adventure Academy seems like a role-playing video game, but it’s more than that it teaches math, science, social studies, and language arts. My child will use Adventure Academy on her own free time she loves it that much. Once again, I think this helps fill the gaps in your curriculum. We only realize a gap exists when something comes along and your child doesn’t know something they should. This is part of why I use Teachers Pay Teachers and reading Eggs. Even Charter schools, online schools, and pre-made curriculum you pay hundreds for will have gaps. Therefore, I use a wide range of resources to teach my kids and Adventure Academy engages them to help them not only retain information but entertain them making learning fun. I am not a big fan of screen time and video games, but I adore Adventure Academy. My daughter loves to share the cool information she learned. Click here for a 30-day free trial.

  5. Believe it or not, Dollar Tree! Not cause Dollar Tree offers school supplies for such a cheap price, but because they have workbooks, and they are a dollar! I’ve found many educational books too. I find Disney Learning workbooks all the time, and they are fantastic. There are books on time and money, reading, math, phonics and more. These workbooks are great resources for only a dollar apiece. And you cannot go wrong with the dollar flashcards. Check out the Learning and Educational Supplies section on the website, you will find many valuable homeschooling resources at a bargain price.

These five resources make homeschooling much easier and stress-free for this mom! A lot of families are opting to homeschool versus zoom and distance learning right now and feel overwhelmed.
